TESTIMONIALS (Z was formerly known as Susan)

Body Mindful Wisdom

Words cannot describe how deeply this therapy has beautified and deepened my daily life. It has taken me beyond the idea of "pain" as an uncomfortable sensation and educated me on how to listen to the sometimes subtle sometimes screaming sometimes singing voices of my body. It's put me in a better spot to listen and respond to my deepest core needs, and continue the inner dialogue on a moment-to-moment basis. I'm forever grateful and honored to have met Susan. My life is forever changed for the better.

I have to tell you that there are so many times that I go about my day and something happens and I think about how grateful I am for you and the priceless work that we did together. Wow.  A quality of listening to myself and different parts of myself that continues to deepen.  Your work gives people a gift that lasts a lifetime, whether they know it or not.

As a therapist, Susan has helped guide me through murky emotional waters and into my body's natural wisdom. It has changed my life significantly! It has lightened my burden and opened my heart to joy.

It was wonderful running in to you.  I love how our paths seem to cross at just the right times.  Things are going so well these days.  I really do owe a lot of it to the liberating experience that I had doing therapy with you.

Prior to my that, I was struggling with some anxiety and post partum mood issues.  I was not sleeping well, was teary often, and was experiencing occasional panic attacks.  What my experience with Susan brought me was a chance to observe my body and mind and how they were interacting with one another and perpetuating these feelings.  My first session really opened the door for me to a place of clear introspection.  The second session was the most profound, though, in that it brought me to some really life changing decisions.  Two days later I had confronted my doubts and fears and made the decision to leave my private practice behind.  I am now a full-time, stay-at-home mom with my amazing 9 month old daughter, and my insomnia, crying spells, and panic attacks are a thing of the past.  A phenomenal, life-changing experience, indeed.

Thanks, Susan!

I have been seeing Susan for a few months doing private therapy. At first I was hesitant and scared and thought it was a little weird.  But I had hit a point in my life where the pain was greater than the embarrassment of going to a somatic therapist - something I'd never even heard of. Well I happened to go to a yoga class and heard some words said by Susan (the instructor) that really struck a chord with me. I finally got the courage to ask Susan if she would talk to me outside of class about my issues specifically.  I'm glad I did.

The very first time I met with Susan privately I was nervous. I'd never done anything like this before.  It felt weird at first.  But then I sat down and just talked with Susan for about an hour.  Something in her voice was so inviting. She has a way of speaking with the most soothing voice.  I couldn't help but talk more. She easily brought it out of me. As I shared about myself she listened more intensely than any therapist I'd ever seen. Even after an hour of hearing me babble (and not taking any notes) she was able to verbally repeat back to me everything I just said!  She really did listen to everything and she heard it all.  I really felt I found someone that could really hear me. Could really feel what I was going through. That is when I knew I found someone special.

We then started doing some therapy work and I immediately felt comfortable and in the most loving care of someone that was really going to help me. Throughout doing the therapy, I have experienced unbelievable, life long, huge breakthroughs of issues I've had buried inside of me for years.  Stuff that had never come up during years of traditional clinical psychology. During every session with Susan, she is able to feel through my body and by doing specific stretches to know exactly where my years of toxic buildup is lodged in my body.  During our session we uncover hidden core truths about myself that are amazing.  I am learning why I have these issues, and more importantly, how to deal with them, and get over them!  I'm learning how to listen to my body and be able to do self-healing exercises to grow and defeat these demons I've had my whole life!  Susan truly is amazing.

I mentioned this to a friend of mine in San Francisco. He has been to all kinds of healers, metaphysical teachers, yogis, therapists, etc.  He says just by the way I describe my sessions with Susan and the lessons I'm learning and the growth I'm experiencing, it is his opinion that Susan truly has a gift as a true healer. I must agree. I am truly going through incredible, life altering changes though this process.  Ever since taking my first class with Susan, and then doing this therapy with her, I have changed and improved so many things in my life.  My life is completely different today than it was just less than six months ago!  Thank you Susan.

I am almost entirely free of mid-back pain since my private session with you!  It flares up once in a blue moon, but I can usually pinpoint exactly what emotional upset is triggering it and can control it through meditation and yoga.  It's so exciting to be free of something that has plagued me for so long.  Thanks!

When I first approached Susan, I thought I was just going to learn how to stretch and get rid of the pain in my back. Apparently this was just a doorway into reaching the core issues that are the cause of my chronic back pain.  Susan is able to help me find these issues within myself.  Now I'm learning about how to live my life more peacefully.  How to treat myself more lovingly. How to speak the truth and follow my heart.  How to listen to my intuition and my body to help guide me through my daily life. Now I have the tools to live each day peacefully and serene.

I don't want to make it sound like this is easy.  It takes work. It takes courage. It takes effort to go home and read through my notes of what I've learned.  It takes conscious effort to do my homework, and apply what I've learned. There is not a magic pill.  But at least after years of not knowing what was wrong with me, and why my life seemed so difficult and stressful, I am learning how to live my life better.  Each day I can consciously choose to pay more attention to my body and use the tools Susan has taught me to make my life happier, more content, peaceful, and begin to see what it's like to live pain free.

I am embarking on a new life-long journey of listening to my body, my heart, and soul. It takes work, but it is so rewarding.  I really feel hopeful and like Susan has helped me open a whole new doorway into a life I've never known. And now I can really start fulfilling my dreams!

Thank you Susan.

Susan’s  therapy sessions are so powerful because she guides you into that still, silent, all-knowing place within. It is not talk therapy that grasps at mental argument. It is a potent form of experiential learning. I have come into some of the deepest meditative states of my life in her sessions, feeling my energy body as a warm and alive cocoon. Susan creates a space of pure acceptance and presence, where one can allow what is buried and suppressed to surface and illuminate.

I want to say thank you for all the help you've given me.  I came to you because I was filled with sadness and could not respond to all the beauty and joy that was in my life. I'd carried this sadness for such a long time and never realized that it was buried so deeply in me.  You helped me experience it and then release it, freeing me to live in the present. I am most grateful.

Susan is a gifted practitioner who was able to create and a hold a sacred space in which I could allow myself to let go and deepen my experience with the therapy session.  Susan gently and intuitively guided me in a way that helped me to acknowledge and honor the connection between my body, emotions, and spirit.  In the session I was able to tap into some areas that needed release and healing, which has helped me to move forward.  This is a powerful approach that I would recommend for anyone interested in exploring their own body-mind wisdom.

I’ve had the privilege of joining Susan for several private [therapy] sessions. Every one has offered unforeseen and compelling gifts – not simply a mental understanding but an actual felt experience of the truth in me. In one session, for example, I was feeling trapped in regret and anxiety. By asking me some questions, then repeating my own words back to me and using them to move and twist my body, she led to me discover a whole new body position that relieved these sensations. Basically, with my chest wide open, I simply could not feel contracted and insecure. I was able to use this understanding when I re-entered the environment which provoked the anxiety in the first place. It completely shifted my own experience and my relationship with others!  I still notice to this day if I’m feeling those emotions, it’s because my body is actually concaved. I’m able now to use my body to transcend the fear!

I  saw Susan shortly after my father has passed away. She helped me access and release so much raw emotion. And through our session I realized and felt how I had co-created the relationship, in all its love and anguish, with my dad. It wasn’t something he did to me. Something significant shifted in me then, and I was able to let go on a deeper level.

___________

I'm awed by the power of these experiences with you time and time again. They guide me home and for that I'm most grateful. For you I'm most grateful Susan!

As you surrender to this work you tap into the wisdom held within, personal boundaries become crystal clear.  I translate personal boundaries to mean self-knowledge and self-honor.  Awareness of and honor for my boundaries are a new addition in my life, and I appreciate this very much as a framework for my sense of clarity and security in the world.

___________

BodyMind Therapy can help develop the awareness for the connection that can take years to find with just a yoga practice.  It jump starts the experience.

___________

Knowing you will always inspire me.  I think that there is a little golden place in my heart that you have touched and it is indescribably beautiful, just as you are.  I can feel it glowing as I type to you.  Thank you for helping me become more aware of the infinite horizons of being.  It is so hard to put it into words, they can be so limiting for such a limitless thing.

___________

I feel like I made a huge breakthrough. You hold so much in your body and sometimes it feels like there are things you just can't get out; they're just stuck. When you connect it with your body memory and your emotions, it can be very powerful. I now have a more heightened awareness of what's going on in my body, so that I can work through it. If you work on it, you can release powerful things.

___________

Just the beginning work we did together has gotten me through some amazingly rough times here.  I knew it was going to be difficult, but no words can describe the extreme journey...I just hang on to my vision of the brilliance I saw at the end (or the true beginning). Just the short time we worked together made such a difference, I want others to know.

I really didn't know what to expect with my first session and I couldn't have been more pleasantly surprised! I've spent years healing myself and thought I'd let go of much of my dis-ease. I quickly learned that some of the things I hadn't looked at were hiding deep inside my body. Working with Susan was safe and easy. To be honest, it was like she wasn't even there. She has the ability to facilitate the healing and hold the healing space without interfering in my experience. She was like an invisible voice in my head... my own voice!

First, we sat on a rug and Susan explained how the session would go. She told me she would have me sit or lay in certain ways and that she would stretch my body. She said to notice what came up for me as the stretching became more intense. (I use the word intense instead of painful because it never really hurt.) At times, she would ask me what I was experiencing and when I answered she would repeat back to me what I has just said. This way I could really HEAR it. I was amazed that I was still holding onto parent issues and my healing tears come so easily.

I left feeling lighter and more 'in body' that ever. I can't wait for my next session!

___________

As a professional reflexologist I pay attention to all those areas in my body that seem to hold on to pain and resist change.

I saw Susan for about 5 sessions, averaging once in 10 days. During the work I became aware of my own blockages. Even more, it came to my attention that my breathing was not in optimal capacity.

As it turns out, I was involved in an accident 15 years ago that left my T6 vertebra out of balance, and painful at times. While seeing Susan, a few sessions into the treatment, this vertebra errupted in a strong pain, so strong I started to worry. It endured for 2-3 days. One night I woke up just to realize the pain was gone. Simultaneously, I noticed my breathing was deeper than I can ever recall. It was obvious that there has been some climax going on, after which my breathing reached more optimal capacity!

Today, a year later, I still notice that "it takes less effort to get the same breathing". Moreover, I am breathing better and with more capacity. I don't have exact numbers, but it feels like I regained an extra 20% of breathing capacity. Overall, breathing became a whole newer experience.

Susan is very present while working, and uses her own blend of knowledge and intuition. I am still thankful and impressed with Susan's work. The lasting results,  a year later, only affirm my absolute endorsement of this 'magical'/miraculous work.

[BodyMind] therapy is a healing experience. It’s a way I can stop obsessive thinking and listen to the deep wisdom of my body. It’s a way to clear the clutter and get to the essence. It has brought balance and creativity to my life.

I always look forward to my therapy sessions because I like exploration. I like to be awed and by body says some pretty awesome things. I’ve discovered it’s a flowing source of refreshing ideas. And it’s a lot smarter than my mind.

Susan is awesome too. I feel totally comfortable with her. She gives me the space to express my emotions and to let out whatever is in me. I’m able to communicate better and I’m happier than I’ve ever been in my life.

I got more out of one session than I did from my eighteen years of psychotherapy!
